Brainstorming on fish microbiome and immunome

A brainstorming was held on 20th December 2021 on the fish microbiome and immunome in virtual mode. Experts from seven ICAR fisheries research institutes, ICAR-NIANP and KUFOS attended the session. Dr.Krupesha Sharma, Head-in-Charge welcomed the participants. Dr.Gopalakrishnan, Director, CMFRI, in his introductory remarks, highlighted the role of EGS-CoEI in augmenting fish production through microbiome and immunome research and the importance of the established facility to act as a platform for national and international collaborations. Dr.Rajendran from ICAR-CIFE moderated the session. Brief presentations were made by each institute on different concepts involving fish microbiome. The presentations were followed by discussions. The concepts encompassed different fields like methodology, ontogeny, wild microbiome, microbiome and immunome signatures, and AMR. It was decided to prioritize the concepts so that potential research proposals can be made through further discussions and deliberations. Dr.Sumithra T.G. presented the highlights of the session. Mrs. Reshma K.J. proposed vote of thanks.
